The Department of Physiology at Sanskaram University forms the cornerstone of medical education, providing students with an in-depth understanding of the normal functioning of the human body. Physiology is the science that explains how different systems of the body work individually and in coordination to maintain health.
Our department is dedicated to teaching, training, and research in all aspects of human physiology, helping students bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice. Through lectures, laboratory experiments, and clinical demonstrations, we aim to develop a clear understanding of body functions at molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels.

Key Areas of Focus in Physiology

  • Vision To be a leading center of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation in human physiology, dedicated to understanding life processes and promoting health through scientific knowledge.
  • Mission:To provide high-quality education in human physiology to medical and allied health students. To promote research in applied, clinical, and experimental physiology. To integrate physiological principles with clinical relevance and real-world healthcare. To develop ethical, skilled, and knowledgeable medical professionals. To encourage innovation and the use of modern technology in physiological education.
  • Objectives To impart a clear understanding of normal body functions and their regulation. To train students in experimental methods and physiological data interpretation. To establish the foundation for the study of pathology, pharmacology, and medicine. To promote analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills in physiology. To encourage participation in research and academic development programs.

  • Academic Activities The Department of Physiology plays a vital role in the first year of the MBBS and B.Sc. Medical programs.General Physiology,Cell Physiology and Homeostasis,Blood and Body Fluids,Nerve and Muscle Physiology,Cardiovascular System,Respiratory System,Gastrointestinal System,Renal and Excretory System,Endocrine System,Reproductive Physiology,Central Nervous System and Special Senses,Teaching methods combine lectures, demonstrations, small group discussions, clinical correlations, and laboratory experiments to ensure comprehensive learning.
  • Teaching & Learning Activities Interactive theory lectures with audiovisual aids,,Practical classes using modern instruments and physiological experiments,Tutorials and case-based learning sessions,Problem-based and integrated teaching,Regular assessments through viva, written tests, and practical exams,Encouragement of student participation in research and seminars.
